Smile Makeover in Greater Kailash 1, Delhi

A smile makeover is a planned combination of cosmetic treatments, such as whitening, bonding, veneers, gum contouring and braces, chosen to change how your whole smile looks. At Orion Dental Clinic, a dentist in Greater Kailash 1 (GK 1), South Delhi, this page explains how a makeover is planned in stages, what the research says about each part and how long each part lasts, and what can go wrong, in plain language.

Treatment is planned by Dr Anupam Sinha (BDS, MDS) and Dr Natalia DeSilva (BDS, MDS). A makeover is one part of cosmetic dentistry. Ask as many questions as you need before you decide.

Quick answer

A smile makeover at Orion Dental Clinic in Greater Kailash 1, Delhi combines treatments such as whitening, bonding, veneers and gum contouring to change the whole smile. Dr Anupam Sinha and Dr Natalia DeSilva plan it in stages after an examination. Each part wears at its own rate, so a makeover needs a plan for maintenance.

01 Overview

What is a smile makeover, and how does it work in Greater Kailash 1, Delhi?

A smile makeover is not one treatment. It is a plan that combines several treatments to change the colour, shape, size, position and gum line of the teeth that show when you smile. It starts with smile designing, which can use a digital mock-up so that you can see the proposed result and discuss it before anything is done.1

No study has evaluated a smile makeover as a whole, so its parts are judged one by one. Whitening lightens natural teeth only, and with your dentist's advice may last around three years.5 A review of anterior composite restorations found that 24.1% of 1,821 had failed after three years or more.4 A review of 25 studies estimated that 95.5% of porcelain laminate veneers were still in place after 10 years.3

Because the parts wear at different rates, a makeover is never finished in the sense of needing no further care. The research on cosmetic dentistry is also mostly opinion, and it raises concerns about expectations, marketing and harm from invasive procedures,2 so the plan should be slow, clear and kept as simple as it can be.

A makeover is a set of separate treatments with separate lifespans, so plan it with maintenance in mind.

02 Candidacy

Who can have a smile makeover in Greater Kailash 1, Delhi?

A makeover suits adults with healthy teeth and gums who are unhappy with several things about their smile at once. Your dentist decides after an examination, and may suggest starting with less.

Who a makeover may suit

  • Adults with healthy teeth and gums.5
  • People who are unhappy with the colour, shape, size and position of several teeth together.
  • People who want to see a plan and a preview before agreeing.1
  • People who accept that parts of a makeover need review, repair or replacement over the years.34

Who needs extra care or a different plan

  • People with tooth decay or gum disease that has not been treated, which come first.5
  • People with a single concern, such as colour or one chipped tooth, for whom a smaller treatment may be enough.
  • People under pressure to decide quickly, or with expectations that treatment cannot meet, which the research raises as concerns.2
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or aged 17 or younger, who should not have whitening.5

A makeover suits healthy teeth and several goals at once, and a smaller plan is often enough.

03 Options

Which treatments can a smile makeover combine in Greater Kailash 1?

The plan chooses from a short list, and the order matters. Each treatment has its own page.

Whitening first, to set the shade

Whitening lightens natural teeth only, so it is usually done before restorations are matched to the shade of the natural teeth.5 See teeth whitening.

About 3 years 5

Bonding and veneers to change shape and size

Bonding adds resin to a tooth, and veneers cover its front, so they change shape, size and colour. See dental bonding and dental veneers.

Change shape and size 34

Braces and gum work to change position and gum line

Teeth that are out of line may suit braces first, and a smile that shows too much gum may suit gum contouring.

Position and gum line

The plan itself comes from smile designing, which is where you see the proposal and decide.

Each part of a makeover has its own evidence and its own lifespan, so the plan should show both.

04 Procedure

How does a smile makeover work, step by step?

Every plan is individual, so your steps may differ. This is the usual order.15

A makeover is a sequence, and the maintenance plan is part of it.

  1. Consultation about your smile makeover goals

The dentist asks what you like and dislike about your smile and what you would like to change. You can say what you do not want changed as well.

  2. Examination and records

The dentist examines your teeth, gums and bite and takes photographs, X-rays or scans.

  3. Treating health problems first

Decay and gum disease are treated first, because whitening and other cosmetic work are not advised for unhealthy teeth or gums.5

  4. A smile design and preview

The dentist proposes a plan, and for larger changes a digital mock-up, so that you can see and discuss it before treatment starts.1

  5. Treating in stages

The treatments are carried out in a sensible order over several visits. Whitening is usually first, then bonding, veneers or other work matched to the new shade of the natural teeth, with braces or gum work earlier if they are needed. Your dentist explains the order, the number of visits and what happens between them.

  6. Review and a maintenance plan

You come back to check the result against the plan. Each part wears at its own rate, so you leave with a plan for reviews, repairs and, in time, replacement or repeat whitening.

05 Aftercare

Looking after your smile after a makeover in Greater Kailash 1

What you need to do depends on the treatments in your plan, and your dentist will give you written instructions.

After whitening

Teeth can be sensitive to cold or sweet food and drink, and gums can be sore. This is usually short.5

Bonding and veneers

Fracture is the commonest problem with both.34 Avoid biting hard objects, and ring the clinic if a chip, crack or loose edge appears.

Every day

Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and clean between the teeth every day. Healthy gums and teeth support every part of a makeover.

Check-ups

Keep your regular check-ups and the review visits in your maintenance plan, so that wear is found early.

When to call us

Call the clinic on 098115 01995 the same day if you have sensitivity or pain that your usual pain relief does not control, gums that are very red, swollen or painful, a chip, crack or rough edge on a treated tooth, or a restoration that comes loose. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling that spreads across your face or neck, call 112 or go to a hospital emergency department.

Protect the work with careful cleaning, careful biting and regular reviews.

06 Limits and risks

When is a smile makeover not the right choice?

A makeover changes more than one thing, and it does not suit everyone. A good dentist is willing to say start smaller. These are situations where a different plan may be better:

  • Tooth decay or gum disease that has not been treated.
  • A single concern that one simple treatment can solve.
  • Pressure to decide quickly or to copy another person's smile.
  • Expectations that treatment cannot meet.
  • No plan for reviews and repairs afterwards.

In these cases whitening alone, bonding, braces or a wait may be better than a full makeover.

Risks and complications

The evidence is thin. A scoping review of 57 papers on cosmetic dentistry found 36 opinion pieces and called the literature predominantly anecdotal. It raised concerns about expectations, marketing and psychological risks.2 No study has tested a smile makeover as a whole.

Some treatments are invasive. The same review lists biological harm from invasive cosmetic procedures among its concerns.2 Ask what will be done to each tooth and whether it can be undone.

The parts wear at different rates. Whitening may last around three years,5 bonding had a 24.1% failure rate after three years or more in one review,4 and veneers had 95.5% survival at ten years in another.3 A makeover therefore needs repeat visits.

A preview is not a promise. A digital mock-up shows a proposal, and the real result depends on your teeth, your gums and the treatment. The review describing digital smile design also discusses its limitations.1

A good plan names these limits before treatment starts, and keeps the changes as small as they can be.

07 Your visit

What happens at your first smile makeover consultation?

At your first visit, a dentist at Orion Dental Clinic asks what bothers you about the colour, shape, size and position of your teeth, and about your health, medicines and earlier dental work. If several teeth are involved, tell us which matter most to you.

The dentist examines your teeth, gums and bite and takes photographs and any X-rays needed. You then talk through which treatments could be combined, in what order, how many visits that means and what each one involves, and whether one simple treatment would do instead.

A makeover plan names the treatments, their order and the simpler alternative.

Planning a smile makeover during a visit to Delhi?

A makeover is the cosmetic plan most likely to need more than one trip or a long stay, because it has stages: examination and planning, health treatment, whitening, then bonding or veneers made to match, and a review. 12 Questions

Smile makeover questions patients ask in Greater Kailash 1

What is a smile makeover?

A planned combination of cosmetic treatments, such as whitening, bonding, veneers, gum contouring and braces, chosen to change how your whole smile looks. It starts with smile designing and a preview.1

How long does a smile makeover last?

Each part lasts for a different time. Whitening may last around three years,5 bonding had a 24.1% failure rate after three years or more in one review,4 and veneers had 95.5% survival at ten years in another.3

Is there research on smile makeovers?

Not on a makeover as a whole. The evidence is for the separate treatments, and the research on cosmetic dentistry in general is mostly opinion.2

How many visits does a smile makeover need?

It depends on the plan. A makeover is done in stages, with an examination and planning visit first, so expect several visits. Your dentist will give a count for your plan.

What comes first in a makeover?

Health comes first, then any braces or gum work, then whitening, and then bonding or veneers matched to the new shade, because whitening lightens natural teeth only.5

Can I see the result before I agree?

For larger changes, a digital mock-up can show a proposed smile on your photograph. It is a plan and not a promise.1

What are the risks of a smile makeover?

Invasive procedures can cause biological harm, expectations can be unrealistic and the research is mostly opinion.2 Each treatment can also need repair or replacement.

Do I need a smile makeover, or would one treatment do?

Often one treatment is enough, for example whitening for colour or bonding for a chip. A makeover suits several concerns at once, and a good dentist will say if less would do.

Where can I find smile makeover near me in South Delhi?

Orion Dental Clinic is a smile makeover clinic in Greater Kailash 1 (GK 1), in the basement of E 75, Greater Kailash Enclave 1, opposite Anubhav Play School, with the entrance at Gate 1. 13 Second opinion

Thinking about changing your whole smile?

A consultation lets you ask what a makeover would involve, how long each part lasts and what the dentist would drop from the plan, before you commit to anything. Bring photographs of how you like your smile to look, if you have them. The dentist will examine your teeth, explain what they find and describe the options, including doing less. There is no form to fill in: message us on WhatsApp or call, and we will find a time that suits you.
