Invisalign · Greater Kailash 1, Delhi
Invisalign is a well-known brand of clear aligner, a series of removable clear trays that move teeth in small steps. At Orion Dental Clinic, a dentist in Greater Kailash 1 (GK 1), South Delhi, orthodontic treatment is planned by Dr Anupam Sinha, who holds a master's degree in orthodontics. This page explains what the research on Invisalign shows, who it may suit, how treatment goes and what can go wrong, in plain language.
Treatment is planned by Dr Anupam Sinha (BDS, MDS), and Dr Natalia DeSilva (BDS, MDS) also sees patients at the clinic. For the wider picture, read our guide to braces treatment. Ask as many questions as you need before you decide.
These statements come from systematic reviews and a British Orthodontic Society leaflet, listed at the end of the page. Some of the research covers aligners in general and not Invisalign alone, and the text says which. Your orthodontist will give the timeline for your own teeth.

Quick answer
Invisalign at Orion Dental Clinic in Greater Kailash 1, Delhi is a brand of clear removable aligners worn full-time except at meals. Dr Anupam Sinha plans each case after an assessment. Research supports it for mild to moderate problems without extractions, and finds it less effective than braces for some movements.
01 Overview
Invisalign is a system of clear aligners. Like other aligners, they are thin, flexible, clear plastic trays that fit closely over the teeth, custom-made from an accurate impression or scan to a plan set by the orthodontist. You wear a series of them, and each moves the teeth a small distance before the next takes over.1
Aligners need to be worn full-time, day and night, except at meal times.1 A systematic review of 22 studies of Invisalign found that it is a viable alternative to conventional treatment for mild to moderate problems in people who have stopped growing and who do not need extractions, and that it can level, tip and turn most teeth predictably.2
The same review found limited effectiveness for widening the arch by moving teeth bodily, closing extraction spaces, correcting contacts between upper and lower teeth and larger front-to-back or vertical problems.2 Our page on clear aligners covers aligners in general, and the page on braces for adults compares them with fixed braces.
Invisalign works well for simpler problems and less well for complex ones, so the assessment decides whether it suits you.
02 Candidacy
The research supports Invisalign for mild to moderate problems in non-growing patients who do not need extractions.2 The orthodontist decides after a proper assessment, and says honestly whether aligners or braces suit your teeth.1
Invisalign suits teeth that need simpler movements and people who will wear the trays as directed.
03 Options
Invisalign is one way of straightening teeth, and the research does not place it above braces for every case.

Worn full-time, except at meals 1
Some problems need additional techniques, such as fixed appliances, alongside aligners.1 Your orthodontist will say if yours does.

Not removable
If you would like to compare aligners with every other type of brace, start with our general guide to braces.
| Invisalign | Fixed braces | |
|---|---|---|
| Removable | Yes, but worn full-time except at meals 1 | No |
| Strongest evidence for | Mild to moderate cases without extractions 2 | A wider range of problems |
| Pain in the first days | Lower 4 | Higher 4 |
| Result in adults, aligners in general | Worse occlusal result in a review of 11 studies 3 | The comparison 3 |
| Gum health scores | Lower plaque and bleeding scores in 7 studies 5 | Higher plaque and bleeding scores 5 |
Invisalign trades some predictability for comfort and convenience, so the choice depends on how complex your teeth are.
04 Procedure
Every case is planned individually, so your steps may differ. This is the usual order for aligners.1
Invisalign works when the aligners are worn, so the wear schedule is as important as the plan.
A proper orthodontic assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan is essential to successful aligner treatment.1 The orthodontist examines your teeth, gums and bite, and takes X-rays and photographs. Invisalign should not begin without this.
An accurate impression or scan of your mouth is taken, and the aligners are custom-made from it.1
The orthodontist plans how far each tooth should move and in how many steps. You see the plan, and you are told if some movements may need other techniques.2
You wear each aligner day and night except at meal times, then move on to the next in the series.1
You come back for reviews so that the orthodontist can check progress and decide if extra steps are needed. If the teeth are not tracking as planned, the plan is revised, and you are told why and what that means for the length of treatment.
After any aligner treatment, retainers are required so that the teeth keep their corrected positions.1 Your orthodontist will say how long to wear yours.
05 Aftercare
Your orthodontist will give you written advice for your aligners, and that comes first. These are the basics.
Teeth can feel tender with each new set. Pain with Invisalign was lower than with fixed braces in the first days, and no different after that, up to 3 months.4
Wear the aligners day and night, and take them out for meals.1 Keep to your orthodontist's schedule for each set.
Clean the aligners and brush before putting each set back in, as your orthodontist shows you. Plaque and bleeding scores were lower with Invisalign than with fixed braces in seven studies, so the teeth appear easier to keep clean.5
Phone the clinic before moving on to the next set, so that your plan is not thrown off.
Ring the clinic on 098115 01995 if an Invisalign tray cracks, is lost or no longer fits, or if you have pain that lasts beyond the first days with a new tray. Keep your old trays until you are told otherwise. Tell us if your gums bleed or a tooth feels loose. If you cannot breathe or swallow easily, or swelling spreads across your face or neck, go to a hospital emergency department.
Wear them as directed, keep the teeth and trays clean and call if an aligner is lost or cracks.
06 Limits and risks
Invisalign is not the better choice for every set of teeth, and a good orthodontist is willing to say so. These are situations where your orthodontist may advise braces or a combined plan:
In these cases fixed braces, or aligners combined with other techniques, may give a better result.
Some movements are limited. The main review of Invisalign found limited effectiveness for arch expansion by bodily movement, extraction space closure, correction of occlusal contacts and larger anteroposterior and vertical discrepancies. Its authors say no clear clinical recommendations can be made apart from non-extraction treatment of mild to moderate problems in non-growing patients.2
Results may be less good than with braces. A review of 11 studies of aligners in general, with 887 patients, found moderate-quality evidence of a worse occlusal result than with fixed braces, and concluded that the evidence does not support aligners as equally effective.3 That review is not specific to Invisalign.
They only work when worn. The trays need to be worn day and night except at meals,1 so a plan depends on your daily habits.
Teeth can move back. After any aligner treatment, retainers are required to keep the teeth in their corrected positions.1
A good plan names these limits before treatment starts, and says openly when braces would give a better result.
07 Your visit
At your first visit, a dentist at Orion Dental Clinic asks what you would like to change and whether you can wear Invisalign aligners day and night except at meals, and about your health, medicines and earlier dental work. Bring any old retainers or X-rays.
The orthodontist examines your teeth, gums and bite and takes a scan or impressions. You then talk through whether Invisalign suits your case, how the stages of aligners are planned, how often you would come in for reviews and what a retainer involves, and you can compare it with fixed braces.
Nothing is ordered until the plan is agreed and you know what wearing the aligners involves.
08 Why this clinic
The doctors who plan your treatment are the ones you meet, and a good first question is whether Invisalign would handle your teeth as well as braces would. Their profiles below come from their own pages.

Full-time, day and night, except at meal times.1 Your orthodontist will give you a schedule, and keeping to it matters because each set only moves the teeth if it is worn, and a day-by-day habit of putting them back in after eating is the easiest way to stay on track.
Teeth can feel tender. A review found that pain with Invisalign was lower than with fixed braces in the first days, and no different after that, up to 3 months.4
In a meta-analysis of 7 studies with 368 patients, plaque and bleeding scores were lower with Invisalign than with fixed braces, and gum index and probing depth did not differ.5

Yes. After any aligner treatment, retainers are required so that the teeth keep their corrected positions.1
A proper orthodontic assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan is essential to successful aligner treatment, so aligners should not be started without an examination.1
