Quick answer
Orion Dental Clinic in Greater Kailash Enclave 1, Delhi is a dentist for GK-1 and GK-2, open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 8:00 pm. Dr Anupam Sinha and Dr Natalia DeSilva see patients for check-ups, cleaning, repairs and treatment. How often you need a check-up depends on your oral health.
01 Overview
A good dentist in Greater Kailash should do more than fix problems. The NHS says a check-up examines your teeth, gums and mouth, asks about your general health and any dental problems since your last visit, gives advice on diet, smoking, alcohol and tooth cleaning, and sets the date of your next visit.1 The dentist looks for signs of tooth decay, gum disease and mouth cancer, and may use a probe, a small mirror and a gentle puff of air, and take X-rays.2
How often you need to go is individual. The NHS says the gap can be anywhere from 3 months to 2 years, depending on how healthy your teeth and gums are and your risk of future problems, that people with good oral health usually need a check-up every 12 to 24 months, and that children and teenagers under 18 should be seen at least once a year.1 So six-monthly visits are not a rule, and a dentist should explain the interval they choose for you.
Orion Dental Clinic is in the basement of E 75, Greater Kailash Enclave 1, opposite Anubhav Play School, with the entrance at Gate 1, so if you live in GK-1 or GK-2 you are already in the area. The centre of Greater Kailash is roughly 0.2 km from the clinic on the Wikipedia coordinates, in a straight line.5 Our pages on gum disease and fillings cover the two most common reasons for treatment after a check-up.
A check-up is a conversation and an examination, and its interval should be set for you and explained.
02 Candidacy
Almost everyone with teeth should have regular check-ups, and the dentist decides how often.
Routine visits keep problems small, and a problem between visits is a reason to book sooner.
03 Options
A check-up may be all you need, or it may lead to one of these.
A professional clean removes plaque and hard deposits, and the dentist shows you how to brush and clean between your teeth. The NHS advises brushing twice a day for about two minutes with fluoride toothpaste, and cleaning between the teeth daily.3
Twice a day 3
Gum disease is caused by plaque and is very common. The NHS advises a dentist check for bleeding, swollen or sore gums, and says treatment may include advice, a hygienist clean or deep cleaning under the gums.4 See bleeding gums.
Check bleeding gums 4
If the check-up finds decay or damage, the dentist explains the choices, from a filling to a crown, root canal treatment or taking a tooth out. See root canal treatment and tooth extraction.
Choices explained
Children's care is covered on our pediatric dentistry page.
| Check-up and clean | Gum care | Repairs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Examination, advice and a clean 1 | Advice, hygienist clean, deep cleaning 4 | Fillings, crowns, root canal, extraction |
| When | Every 3 months to 2 years, set for you 1 | If gums bleed or swell 4 | When decay or damage is found 2 |
| Main limit | Needs your daily cleaning 3 | Smoking reduces the response | Some teeth cannot be saved |
Most visits end with advice, and some lead to treatment, which the dentist explains first.
04 Procedure
Every visit is a little different. This is the usual order, from NHS guidance.12
A check-up ends with a plan and a date, and you decide what happens in between.
Call us or message us on WhatsApp, say if you are in pain or nervous, and we will find a time. There is no form to fill in.
The dentist asks about your general health, medicines and any dental problems since your last visit.1
The dentist examines your teeth, gums, lips, neck and the inside of your mouth for decay, gum disease and signs of mouth cancer.2
A metal probe, a small mirror and a gentle puff of air are used, and you may need X-rays.2
You get advice on diet, smoking, alcohol and tooth cleaning that fits your mouth.1
If there is a problem, the dentist explains it and the options, and nothing is done until you agree.
You agree when to come back, from 3 months to 2 years depending on your oral health and risk.1
05 Aftercare
Your dentist will give you advice for your own mouth, and that comes first. These are the NHS basics.3
Brush for about two minutes, including last thing before bed, with a toothpaste that has at least 1,350 ppm fluoride for adults.3
Spit out the excess toothpaste and do not rinse straight away, because rinsing washes away the fluoride that protects your teeth.3
Use floss or interdental brushes that fit snugly, and do not use wooden toothpicks to remove trapped food.3
Gums that bleed when you brush or eat hard foods are a sign of gum disease, so have them checked.4
Call the clinic on 098115 01995 if you have toothache that lasts more than two days, a swollen cheek or jaw, a fever, or very sore, swollen gums with loose teeth. If you have swelling that spreads across your face or neck, or trouble breathing or swallowing, call 112 or go to a hospital emergency department.
Twice-daily brushing and cleaning between the teeth do most of the work between visits.
06 Limits and risks
A check-up is an examination, not a promise. These are its limits:
In these cases a further visit, an X-ray, treatment or urgent care may be needed.
The interval is individual. The NHS says the gap can be from 3 months to 2 years, so a fixed six-month routine does not suit everyone, and some people need more frequent checks.1
Gum disease can hide. Gums that bleed, swell or shrink, bad breath and loose teeth are signs of gum disease, which is very common and needs checking by a dentist.4
Decay and mouth cancer are what the examination looks for. Some signs need X-rays or further tests to confirm.2
Cleaning at home matters most. The protection of fluoride toothpaste is reduced if you rinse straight after brushing.3
A good dentist tells you what the check-up found, what it did not, and when to come back.
07 Your visit
At your first visit, a dentist at Orion Dental Clinic asks about your health, medicines and allergies, any dental problems and what you hope for. If you are nervous, tell us, and we will go at your pace.
The dentist examines your teeth, gums and mouth, takes X-rays where needed, and talks through what they find, what you could do about it and when to come back. You can ask any question before anything is done.
The first visit is for an examination and a conversation, and nothing is done until you agree.
08 Why this clinic
You meet the doctors who look after your teeth, and you can ask them what they find and what they advise.

Dr Natalia DeSilva
BDS, MDS - Oral Medicine and Radiology

Imaging is available at the clinic, so the X-rays used for planning can be taken there.
Ask how often you need a check-up, and why.
